This volume of Sarvarth Chintamani has been sadly over delayed due to the sudden demise of its renowned author Sh. J. N. Bhasin. In his absence the Publishers had to over come many difficulties, which, if he had been with us could have been sorted out without any effort two years ago The manual proofs of over hundred pages had to be discarded as they distorted the original text in Sanskrit had to be made; with help of Shri S. S. Sareen, but for whom the present form and shape could have not been possible, he has not only edited the original shapes to such a rare and ancient text could be provided with English rendering, a long felt need of our readers.
The publisher expresses his heart, felt gratitude to Shri S. S. Sareen, Shri Girish Chand Sharma & Shri Vivek Seth to make the book what it is now before you.
About the Book
"Sarvarth Chintamani" is one of the top astrological works. From the point of view of practical utility it offers very valuable comments on the subjects relating to each of the 12 houses of a birth chart. It has the unique distinction of following a procedure where by the main subject or objects pertaining to a house are first of all stated in the very beginning of the chapter relating to that house and then each of those subjects is dealt within a suitable astrological way on the basis of the house concerned, its lord and its significator and the result-good and bad-declared.
Introductory Note
"Sarvarth Chintamani" is one of the astrological works from the point of view of practical utility it offers very valuable comments on the subjects relating to each of the 12 houses of a birth chart. For example in the first shloka of chapter 3 dealing with the affairs of the 2nd house of the horoscope the author-Shri Venktesh Sharma has given family, dependents, mouth, speech, right eye, accumulated wealth, education, eating servents & friend as the affairs covered by the 2nd house. He then deals with each of these affairs in detail. For example: he states that if a natural benefic Planet occupies the 2nd house and the lord of the 2nd is also a natural benefic Planet and the significator-the Sun-is under good influence the man has broad eyes with good sight. Similar treatment is accorded to other affairs.
On certain important points which required special mention we have inserted our notes bringing out the value of that specific point, with apt illustrations from actual life, it is hoped these notes and illustrations will go a long way in bringing out the true import of the shlokas.
The aspects of Rahu and Ketu are conspicuous in this book by their absence. But we have added suitable notes to fill in the omission in this respect.
It is our conviction that a birth chart having correct longitudes according to correct ayanamsa would give correct balance of Dasa. Divination carried out on the basis of such a Dasa with due regard to the aspects of the nodes and to the functioning of the planets as dispositors, would give correct results when applied to the house involved, the lord of that house & its significator.
In regard to the use of correct ayanamsa we would recommend on the basis of our experience that the value of the Shri Lahiri's ayanamsa as applicable to a particular date should be reduced by I degree and 7 minutes and the longitude of Moon then arrived at should be used to ascertain the balance of Dasa. In the alternative the longitude of Moon according to Shri Lahiri should be increased by I degree & 7 minutes & the balance of Dasa arrived.
