Keeping the view of the contemporary political situation, this research is titled only with Telangana state, but up to 2014 it was in the part of earste while Andhra Pradesh, hence it also related to Andhra region BC Movement. During the constitutional assembly debates Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in his last speech uttered that we are going to enter into a life of contradictions In politics. we will have equality and in social and economic Ife we will have inequality...we must remove this contradiction at the earliest moment or else those who suffer from inequality will blow up the structure of political democracy which this assembly has so laboriously built." After 76 years of independence, how far are the goals of the founding fathers of constitution achieved in social and economic spears of Indian society has to be examined Through this book a little effort is made in this regard. Backward castes consist of nearly 55% among the total Indian population. Without the socio-economic emancipation of these people it's not possible to say that as a nation India is progressing and in a path of development. In this regard the question of identity among these backward castes, historical background of BC Movement and the role of their leaders and movements discussed in first and second chapters. Most of the backward castes are professional castes and the impact of globalisation on their professions and livelihood discussed in the fourth chapter. The fifth chapter deals with why and how the backward castes reacted to the Telangana statehood movement. Through the conclusion the author of this book tried to put forward his views in front of the readers. Forword

In order to make this book more lucid for the readers, I have referred to all the questions as It gives me immense pleasure to write foreword to the book entitled, "History of Backward Castes Movement in Telangana, Andhra", written by Dr. Srujan Kumar. It deals with certain important aspect of the socio-cultural history of modern telangana history. The mainstream social science discourse has been insensitive to the emergence of backward castes consciousness, identity and a distinct sensibility. And also what the BCs thought about their existential position in their own terms has not been adequately analyzed .Such an analysis is particularly relevant and necessary in a context in which BC articulation and radical democratic assertion have become an integral part of social liberation movements. In recent years, broader BC identity, consciousness and self-respect as well as the anti-caste movements and articulation of egalitarianism, social justice etc., with their distinctive trajectory became integral to the larger question of emancipation and empowerment. Indeed, today BCs had moved to the center-stage an unlike in the past they could not be taken for granted. They were creating new identities both in civil and political society and in such changing circumstances they had become more assertive and were demanding freedom and equality from the society.
